This year's National Day holiday (September 2) lasts 5 days (from August 29 through September 2), expected to bring a large volume of passengers through Noi Bai International Airport. The airport has synchronously deployed operational plans, from optimizing infrastructure and reinforcing manpower to applying technology, in order to provide passengers with safe, smooth, and efficient flights.

Strong growth in flight volume

According to forecasts, August 28, 2026, will be the busiest day of this year's holiday period. The airport estimates it will serve more than 125,000 passengers, up 8% compared to normal levels and up 33% compared to the same period in 2025. Along with that, the number of takeoffs and landings is expected to reach 743 flights, up 10% compared to normal levels and up 18% compared to the same period last year.

Notably, an important highlight of this peak period is that the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has decided to increase the slot coordination parameter (number of takeoffs/landings) at Noi Bai from 42 slots/hour to 44 slots/hour during the time frame from 06:00 to 23:55. This increase in operational capacity gives airlines more room to add flights, relieving pressure and maximizing the ability to meet passengers' travel needs.

Proactive measures to ensure flight safety

To ensure smooth traffic flow, the airport is closely coordinating with the Noi Bai Border Guard Police to scientifically regulate vehicle flows approaching the terminals, flexibly adjusting to actual conditions and clearly organizing parking areas. Inside the terminal, the airport is maximizing the capacity of check-in counters, boarding gates, and baggage carousels, while reinforcing staff support at points at risk of congestion.

The biometric system is also being prioritized to operate smoothly, with technical staff on standby at all times. At the same time, the airport is coordinating with the Border Guard Police to arrange separate immigration areas for Vietnamese citizens, separate lanes for foreign passengers, flight crews, etc., helping passengers complete procedures quickly.

At the same time, the airport continues to leverage the effectiveness of the Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) model, which helps optimize flight operations management and improve on-time performance indicators.

Recommendations for passengers flying during the September 2 holiday

To make travel through Noi Bai International Airport convenient and quick, passengers are advised to: proactively check in online via the website, mobile app, VNeID electronic identification account, or check-in/biometric kiosks at the terminal to save time waiting in line at traditional counters; carefully check travel documents, baggage regulations, and prohibited or restricted items before boarding; proactively plan travel time, arriving 2 hours before departure for domestic flights and 3 hours before departure for international flights to complete aviation, security, and customs procedures as thoroughly as possible; and follow signage and directional signs, cooperating with traffic control personnel at the terminal to ensure the fastest and most compliant access.

Noi Bai International Airport wishes all passengers a happy, safe National Day holiday filled with wonderful flight experiences!
