On the morning of July 6, 2026, a family of 6 Filipino tourists experienced a flight cancellation at Noi Bai T2 Terminal. In a state of panic due to their urgent need to return home, they received dedicated support from an information desk staff member, who helped arrange a new itinerary and personally drove them to the domestic terminal in her own car.

According to a letter of commendation sent to the Action Committee for Passenger Service Quality of Noi Bai International Airport on July 7, 2026, the family of Dr. Ruel and Dr. Lizalyn Marie Revilla (including 5 adults and 1 child) was scheduled to take a return flight to Manila (Philippines) at 1:45 AM on July 6. The whole family arrived at the international terminal early around 10 PM and unexpectedly found out that their flight was cancelled. The incident left the doctor couple in a state of panic as they had surgery appointments set for their patients, and their children had exams scheduled for the following Monday morning.

The family immediately went to the Information Desk for help. It was the shift of Ms. Trinh Hien Linh (commonly known as Han) - a staff member with over 10 years of experience at the airport. Recognizing that it was late at night and airline staff were highly focused on front-line operations, Ms. Linh understood that the Information Desk was the most flexible unit at that moment, capable of dedicating time to closely assist the passengers.

Ms. Linh proactively called the station manager of Philippine Airlines and personally went to the check-in station of Cebu Pacific to try to squeeze them in, but the flight was full. She continued to check other ticketing areas opened at that time to try to find a transit flight, while also contacting the passengers' travel agent directly to coordinate a solution.

Recalling this moment, Dr. Ruel wrote in his letter: "All to no avail. But behind all this, we felt we were not alone. She... called people using her phone and even talked to our travel agent to help them fix it... If this commendable service is not going the extra mile for strangers-in-distress, I do not know what it is."

After a few more hours, thanks to the coordinated efforts, the station manager of Philippine Airlines found a solution: booking a domestic flight to Ho Chi Minh City, then flying from Ho Chi Minh City to Manila.

However, a new problem arose: finding a taxi to the domestic terminal for 6 people with 5 large luggages and 6 small ones at the wee hour of the night. Out of concern that the family would incur high costs if they called multiple cars, Ms. Linh volunteered to use her personal sedan to bring all the passengers and their luggage to the domestic airport. Mentioning the moment on that special ride, Dr. Ruel emotionally wrote: "Our hearts are full just experiencing this kind of service - a service that is genuine and filled with love." She also stayed until she made sure they were in the right spot for check-in before bidding goodbye.

In the face of this dedicated support, the doctor's family tried to give her a thank you note with some cash on it, but Ms. Linh firmly refused.

Affirming that this was not a bribe but a gesture of profound gratitude, Dr. Ruel emphasized in his letter: "...in that moment of despair, we found an angel in a land of strangers. I am writing this letter of commendation to give credit to a wonderful human being who stands behind a help desk and is usually ignored for the important tasks that they do".

At the end of the letter, the foreign passenger also expressed a desire to return the favor if given the chance, as "a stranger treated us like family without any desire for compensation".

The letter from Dr. Ruel's family serves as a thank-you to staff member Trinh Hien Linh, while also acknowledging the coordinated efforts in handling the situation and assisting passengers by the units at Noi Bai International Airport.
