Noi Bai International Airport Actively Responds to Earth Hour Campaign 2024.

From 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm on March 23, 2024, Noi Bai International Airport participated in the Earth Hour campaign by turning off lights for Earth with the message "Save Electricity - Become a Habit", expecting to save 4,000 kWh.

From 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm on March 23, 2024, Noi Bai International Airport will organize the Earth Hour 2024 program with the theme "Save Electricity - Become a Habit". Noi Bai International Airport has detailed plans to turn off and reduce the power consumption of unnecessary electrical devices, public lighting, specifically reducing electricity consumption by 50 - 70% of lighting in some areas in the passenger terminal, car parking areas, and operational control rooms; Cut and reduce power for air conditioning systems at Passenger Terminals T1 and T2; turn off 100% of all advertising signs, lighting at the airport's office buildings. With efforts to turn off and reduce electricity for 1 hour during the Earth Hour Campaign, Noi Bai International Airport is expected to save 4,000 kWh.

In order to call for the consensus of agencies and units operating at the port as well as to disseminate information widely to all passengers through the port during the Earth Hour implementation, spreading the strong message of the program, Noi Bai International Airport has deployed various forms of propaganda such as: posting on social media platforms; hanging banners at all units under the port; at Passenger Terminals T1, T2; broadcasting announcements to passengers on the airport's broadcasting system while sending documents to 53 agencies, units, and businesses operating at the port to join hands, contribute to the campaign against climate change through practical actions.

Playing a role as one of the key national energy-consuming facilities, in order to use energy efficiently and effectively, Noi Bai International Airport has implemented detailed plans, proposed technological solutions, and techniques in management and operation tasks such as: Using LED lighting technology; Applying automation technology, information technology to optimize the energy consumption time of equipment, automatically turning off when not needed and automatically turning on when needed; Using variable frequency drives for large motors.

In 2023, Noi Bai International Airport has implemented adjustments to the number of ceiling lights turned on during the day in the 3rd and 4th floor lounges at Terminal 1, in line with actual lighting conditions; Replaced tube lights, compact lights, metal halide lights, high-pressure sodium lights with LED lights at Terminal 1 passenger terminal; Replaced heat exchange panels in Lounge E at Terminal 1; Overhauled the water chilling machine in the air conditioning system of Lounge E at Terminal 1; Replaced 02 local air conditioning units on the 2nd floor of Terminal 1; Repaired the water chilling air leak in Chiller No. 4 at Terminal 1, resulting in energy savings of 357,205 kWh per year, saving over 700 million VND per year compared to previous operation methods and equipment used.

 To achieve the plan and goal of energy efficiency in 2024, Noi Bai International Airport has implemented solutions including: Replacing tube lights, compact lights with LED lights at Terminal 1 and Lounge E - Terminal 1; Repairing 03 cooling towers - Terminal 1 air conditioning system; Repairing air leaks in the water chilling machine in the air conditioning system - Terminal 1; Replacing 04 local air conditioning units in the public area on the 2nd floor of Terminal 1. This results in energy savings of 637,559 kWh per year, saving costs of 1.4 billion VND per year compared to using old equipment.

The Earth Hour campaign in 2024 with the message "Save electricity - Become a habit" sent to the community is not just about saving electricity, energy, and protecting the environment for just one hour, but every individual, community, and business must practice it regularly throughout all 365 days of the year, to make saving electricity and energy a habit. 

 Every year, the Earth Hour campaign is actively participated in by Noi Bai International Airport with the collective efforts of various agencies and businesses at the airport to raise awareness about climate change and energy conservation worldwide among employees, passengers traveling to/from the airport, and the community.

Over 16 years of participation since 2009 following the initiative of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the Earth Hour campaign has become an annual tradition of Noi Bai International Airport, actively contributing with businesses and the community towards building a "Modern, civilized, polite, and environmentally friendly" airport.
