On October 1, 2026, Noi Bai International Airport will host the 2026 Northern Region Trade Union Sports Festival, marking the 72nd anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 – October 10, 2026) and looking ahead to the 50th anniversary of Noi Bai International Airport’s establishment (February 28, 1977 – February 28, 2027). The event marks the first in a series of activities leading up to the airport’s 50th anniversary.

The festival is jointly organized by the Trade Union of Noi Bai International Airport and trade unions from the Northern Region Trade Union Cluster. It brings together nine teams representing Noi Bai, Cat Bi and Vinh International Airports; Tho Xuan, Dong Hoi and Dien Bien Airports; as well as Hanoi Ground Services JSC (HGS), Noi Bai Aviation Fuel Services JSC (NAFSC), and Airports Corporation of Vietnam Services JSC (ACSV).

A notable feature of this year’s festival is the participation of organizations that share historical ties dating back to the former Northern Airports Cluster. The event therefore provides an opportunity for officials, trade union members and employees from participating units to meet, exchange experiences and strengthen their bonds.

Pickleball has been selected as the main competition, with events organized for leaders, staff, trade union members and employees across different age groups. Athletes will compete in men’s doubles, mixed doubles and women’s doubles.

According to the schedule, participating delegations will be welcomed from 7:30 a.m. on October 1, followed by the opening ceremony at 8:00 a.m. The closing ceremony is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., with a gala gathering taking place that evening. On October 2, the delegations will take part in a traditional heritage program and exchange activities at the Da Chong historical site in Hanoi.

Under the spirit of “Solidarity, Confidence, Integrity and Sportsmanship,” the 2026 Northern Region Trade Union Sports Festival aims to foster a positive atmosphere of healthy competition, promote physical well-being and strengthen connections among participating organizations. The event also kicks off a series of activities commemorating 50 years of construction and development of Noi Bai International Airport.
