From 4:00 PM on April 28, 2025, the Ministry of Public Security officially launched biometric-based airport check-in procedures via the VNeID platform at Noi Bai International Airport.
Accordingly, passengers of Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air taking domestic flights from Noi Bai International Airport can now use biometric authentication via VNeID to complete their check-in procedures, replacing the need to present traditional documents.
To best accommodate travel demands during the busy April 30 - May 1 holiday period and to stay ahead in the digital transformation trend within the aviation sector, Noi Bai International Airport has closely coordinated with units under the Ministry of Public Security and airlines to complete the installation and operation of biometric systems at five security checkpoints and fifteen boarding gates in Terminal 1.
The application of biometric technology significantly shortens processing time, eases congestion at security checkpoints, increases passenger throughput, and enhances the overall travel experience by offering a more modern, convenient, and secure journey.
Instructions for Using VNeID for Airport Procedures
To use VNeID during the airport check-in process, passengers are advised to follow these three steps:
1. Check-in Process:
• Open the VNeID application on your personal mobile device.
• Select Other Services → Airport Procedures → Online Check-in and follow the on-screen instructions.
• After completing online check-in, proceed to the security checkpoint area.
2. At the Security Checkpoint:
• Proceed to a security checkpoint equipped with biometric systems (03 lanes in Zone C and 03 lanes in Zone E of Terminal 1).
• Stand at the marked footprints, look straight into the camera for facial recognition.
• Once the system successfully verifies your identity and the gate opens, proceed to the security screening area.
3. At the Boarding Gate:
• At the boarding gate, repeat the same process: stand at the designated spot and look into the camera for facial recognition.
• Once authenticated, the gate will open automatically, allowing you to board the aircraft without any staff interaction.
Important Reminders for Passengers
To ensure a smooth experience when using VNeID for airport procedures, passengers are kindly requested to:
• Upgrade your VNeID account to Level 2 and ensure you are using the latest version of the VNeID application.
• Download and update the latest mobile applications of Vietnam Airlines or Vietjet Air to support faster information confirmation.
• Carry valid personal identification documents (such as a Citizen ID card, passport, etc.) as a backup in case of technical issues with the biometric system.
To provide optimal support during this period, Noi Bai International Airport and the airlines have deployed additional staff at support points (check-in areas, security checkpoints, and boarding gates) to assist passengers in case of any difficulties when using VNeID biometric authentication.
