With over 100,000 passengers and approximately 600 flights passing through Noi Bai on peak days, Noi Bai International Airport has made thorough preparations to meet the travel demands of citizens during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake.

1. Projected Passenger and Flight Volume at Noi Bai During the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake
From 2024 to early 2025, seven new international airlines have launched routes to Hanoi, while many existing airlines have increased their flight frequencies at Noi Bai International Airport. As a result, international passenger volume has maintained a strong growth trajectory, with daily volumes exceeding 40,000 passengers on several occasions, surpassing previous peak thresholds.
For both international and domestic operations, Noi Bai International Airport has recorded steady growth in passenger and flight volume, with an expected increase of approximately 5-7% compared to regular operations.
According to forecasts for the week before and after the Lunar New Year, the airport is expected to handle an average of 90,000 passengers and 550 flights daily. The busiest day before the Lunar New Year is projected to be January 24, 2025 (the 25th day of the 12th lunar month), while the peak day after the New Year will likely be February 2, 2025 (the 5th day of the New Year), with an estimated 100,000 passengers and 590 flights.
Noi Bai will implement heightened Level 1 aviation security measures from January 26 to February 2, 2025 (the 27th day of the 12th lunar month through the 5th day of the New Year), as mandated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

2. Noi Bai’s Plan to Meet Transportation Demands
Before each peak period, Noi Bai International Airport proactively develops service plans to ensure absolute security, safety, and high-quality services, enabling passengers to travel conveniently.
Noi Bai International Airport has closely collaborated with airlines and worked with the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to effectively coordinate and optimize slot allocation, ensuring efficient use of infrastructure. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the slot parameters at Noi Bai are set at 42 slots per hour from 06:00 to 23:55 and 32 slots per hour from 00:00 to 05:55. The implementation of the Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) model since early 2024 has significantly improved operational efficiency at the airport.
Since December 20, 2024, Noi Bai has implemented a comprehensive non-stop toll collection system across all toll lanes at Terminals T1 and T2, increasing vehicle throughput and reducing congestion during peak hours. In 2024, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam approved the operation of two expanded parking areas under the Terminal T2 expansion project, raising the total number of parking positions at Noi Bai from 115 to 132.
The airport actively monitors airlines' flight schedules to allocate resources and equipment effectively, ensuring efficient operations and quality service. Coordination with specialized forces such as police and traffic officers ensures public security and traffic safety at the airport. Collaboration with non-aviation service providers ensures high-quality passenger services, including dining, shopping, and transportation. Measures include ensuring sufficient vehicles during peak times, early mornings, and late nights, and designating pick-up areas for ride-hailing services, enhancing convenience for passengers.
A large mural, 392 meters long, has been installed in the isolated area of Terminal T2, themed “Vietnam – A Beautiful Land,” showcasing Vietnam’s landscapes to international friends. Workshops are held for passengers on crafting gifts and home decorations using recycled and natural materials. Traditional music performances and lion dances with plush toy giveaways are organized. Activities such as calligraphy by traditional scholars offering blessings for the New Year and a program to welcome the final flight of the year before the New Year’s Eve countdown are also planned.

3. Passenger Notices
Passengers are advised to check flight information through airline channels, the Noi Bai website, or the iNIA app to plan ahead and arrive at the airport early—at least 3 hours before international flights and 2 hours before domestic flights. After completing check-in, passengers should proceed promptly to the security screening area and enter the restricted zone. It is important to prepare travel documents, luggage, and personal belongings in compliance with regulations and follow the instructions of airline staff during the check-in process.
To minimize congestion, passengers are encouraged to limit the number of accompanying friends and relatives at the terminals and to use public transportation to reduce pressure on terminal areas and parking lots. Those using ETC cards should ensure their account has sufficient funds to enable quick automatic payments when passing through non-stop toll lanes at Noi Bai International Airport.
Ms. Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân, Deputy Director of Noi Bai and Chairwoman of the Passenger Service Quality Action Committee, shared: “Noi Bai is currently in the construction phase of the Terminal T2 expansion project. During this period, simultaneous construction and operation may inevitably cause some inconvenience for passengers. We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation in following the instructions of our aviation staff during airport procedures. If you encounter any dissatisfaction, please let us know via suggestion boxes at the terminal, email, phone, fan page, or website. Noi Bai International Airport is committed to reviewing each piece of feedback and resolving issues thoroughly to provide the best possible experience for all passengers.
We deeply value and appreciate every piece of feedback from our passengers for the improvement of our shared home—Noi Bai. On behalf of Noi Bai International Airport, we extend our best wishes for a Happy New Year! Thank you for choosing to travel with us. We wish you a prosperous and peaceful New Year filled with joyful, safe, and smooth journeys!”.
