Noi Bai International Airport has reported a substantial increase in flight operations, passenger traffic, and cargo throughput in the second quarter of 2024, exceeding its set targets.

This was a key highlight of the quarterly operational review meeting held on July 18th, organized by NBIA to evaluate the airport's performance in the previous quarter and set priorities for the upcoming months.

In attendance were representatives from government agencies, airlines, ground handling companies, aviation businesses, and NIA's affiliated units.
During the first six months of 2024, NIA facilitated nearly 90,000 take-offs and landings, including 39 VIP flights and 574 priority flights. The airport successfully ensured the safety and security of special political events such as the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory and the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
NIA has also actively cooperated with inspection teams from various organizations, including the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the Department of Fire Prevention and Fighting, and the Civil Aviation Security Department.

Foreign object debris (FOD) control has yielded positive results, with a 51.5% decrease in tire-related incidents and a 38% reduction in the total volume of FOD collected compared to the same period last year.

At the meeting, representatives from various airport units provided valuable insights and proposed solutions to enhance operational efficiency in the third quarter and the remainder of 2024.

Hoang Thanh Quang, Deputy Director of NBIA, expressed gratitude to all aviation service providers for their dedicated efforts in ensuring flight safety and service quality amid the growing traffic. He also called for continued collaboration to effectively address the challenges posed by the ongoing expansion of Terminal 2, while maintaining the highest standards of aviation security and passenger satisfaction.
The meeting concluded with a strong consensus among participants to overcome challenges, especially in coordinating operations during the construction and operation phases of the Terminal 2 expansion project. The primary focus will remain on ensuring absolute aviation safety and providing exceptional service to passengers.
